Nov 2013 Fee-Based Classes

As the days draw in and we can’t spend as much time outdoors, it’s a good time to sharpen our skills and learn new techniques — so here’s what’s coming up in November fee-based classes.

Saturday, Nov. 2nd:  Pruning Japanese Gardens — learn the pruning techniques for the specific plants used in Japanese-style gardens, and how to create mood and feeling through pruning, as well as how to solve problems that may develop in this type of garden. 9:30 am – 12:20 pm, Room H101, Tuition: $39.00.  Instructor:  Pete Churgel.

Monday, Nov. 4th – Nov. 25th:  Wedding Bouquets II — enjoy making basket, pomander ball, hand-tied and wreath styles of wedding bouquets, and master the appropriate techniques and materials. (Not necessary to have taken previous floral design classes).  6:00 pm – 8:50 pm, Room H105, Tuition: $85.00, Materials Fee: $25.00.  Instructor: Kay Wolfe.

Saturday, Nov. 16th:  Pruning Container Trees & Shrubs — adapt your pruning skills to the specialized needs of container-grown woody plants:  detail pruning, miniaturizing, care, wiring, and positioning.  9:30 am – 12:20 pm, Room H101, Tuition: $39.00.  Instructor: Bill Castellon.

Saturday, Nov. 23rd:  The Art of Tree & Shrub Reduction and Correction — overgrown and/or rangy trees or shrubs are potentially hazardous and certainly unsightly situations every gardener and homeowner has encountered.  Learn to massively reduce trees & shrubs, including the proper season, form of reconstruction & plan of approach.  9:30 am – 12:20 pm, Room H101, Tuition: $39.00.  Instructor:  Chris Ingram.
