Spring 2014 is almost here!  Check out these classes—Spring Herbaceous Plants, Plant Terminology, and Landscape Design Forum.  Read on for more info on each!

LH006EB – Spring Herbaceous Plant ID and Culture

The wise use of herbaceous plants can make a garden or landscape come alive with versatile, long lasting, seasonal color and foliage.   Learn about tough and beautiful plants for the spring landscape including perennials, succulents, grasses, bulbs, ferns, & sub-tropicals.   This class will focus on tried and true plants for Mediterranean climates, but also cover many traditional garden plants for borders and containers.  Students will experience hands-on propagation and container planting of a diverse variety of herbaceous plants.

“In the many years I have taught landscape design at Merritt, herbaceous plants BY FAR represent the most popular plant choices on design class projects, and also in simple garden renovation projects and maintenance accounts.  So here’s your chance to really engage this topic.  Instructor Lawrence Lee knows his stuff, and you’ll be learning things you can use for years to come…”  Chris Grampp, Dept. Chair
