March 2013 Fee-Based Classes

With the coming of Spring, new Community Fee-based Classes are popping up!  Pre-register by calling 510/436-2413 at least 10 days in advance, or come 15 minutes early to class with tuition fee in cash or check. Check out these classes being offered this March:

Saturday, March 2nd – Finding the Essence of a Tree, LH803.  Learn how to identify tree forms and apply appropriate Aesthetic Pruning techniques. 9:30 am – 12:20 pm, H101, Pete Churgel, Instructor, $39.00 fee.

Saturday, March 2nd – Edible Forest, LH859.  Tour Merritt College’s Permaculture Garden featuring over 125 fruit trees and allied companion plants, and gather ideas and principles that apply to all urban orchards.  10:00 am – 12:50 pm, H108, Christopher Shein, Instructor, $39.00 fee.

Saturday, March 9th – Introduction to Bonsai, LH839A.  Immerse yourself in the mysteries of bonsai — bring a tree to work on or instructor will provide one for $7.00.  Many of the same principles apply to miniature trees and trees in the landscape.  9:30 am – 4:20 pm, (lunch break 12:20 pm – 1:30 pm), H101, Bill Castellon, Instructor, $78.00 fee.

Saturday, March 9th – Backyard Nurseries, LH860.  This is the toolkit to turn your backyard into a nursery for your own garden or landscaping business.  10:00 am – 12:50 pm, H108, Christopher Shein, Instructor, $39.00 fee.
