New Beekeeping Class

Interested in beekeeping? Julia Roll will be teaching a brand new fee-based class on Saturday November 21, 2015. Julia is really passionate about this topic, and she’s been taking care of the bees on the Landscape Horticulture hillside for some time now.

Top-Bar Hive Construction
Saturday November 21, 2015
10:00 am to 4:00 pm, Room H-108
$78 for the class and $50 for materials
Taught by Les Crowder and Julia Roll

Top-bar beehives are an excellent choice for those who want to be able to provide pollination for their home gardens, and to harvest local honey and wax. Top bar hives are compatible with natural beekeeping practices, simple, and affordable to make. In this workshop the instructors will provide pre-cut wood, along with tools so that students can build their own top-bar hive. The class will include a discussion of different hives and philosophies of beekeeping, construction of the hive, and a tour of an active honeybee colony. Please contact Julia Roll at (510) 684-1603 or sunandrainbeekeeping@gmail.com  for registration information.
