Saturday Classes for September 2012

Three terrific Saturday classes are in store for September!  Come learn about Focal Point Trees, Placing Rocks in the Landscape, and Pruning for the Big Picture.  These are fee-based classes that anyone can take.  Register at least 10 days in advance of class by calling Dera Williams at 510.436.2413, or to register same day, come 15 minutes early to class with fee (cash or check only).

Sept. 8th –– LH812 The Art of the Focal Point Tree  — Learn how to prune the tree that is the focal point of the garden; includes discussion of form, location, detail pruning, and special care.. Lecture: 9:30 am – 12:20 pm, H101, $39 fee, Pete Churgel, Instructor.

Sept.  15th — LH805 Rock Placement in the Landscape –– Placing rocks correctly in the landscape involves the theory of correct placement as well as practical considerations of the methods, tools, and equipment.  Lab practice in placing a rock. Lecture: 9:30 am – 12:20 pm, Lab: 12:30 pm – 3:20 pm, H101, $78 fee, Bill Castellon, Instructor.

Sept. 22th — LH815 Pruning for the Big Picture — Pruning considerations in creating and maintaining a harmonious garden, including depth of field, height, width, direction and relative importance of various trees and shrubs in a garden.  Lecture: 9:30 am – 12:20 pm, H101, $39 fee, Pete Churgel, Instructor.
